Reconstruction of the turbinates with PRP - treatment of empty nose syndrome - ENS

After  aggressive turbinectomy, may occur that some patients begin to soffire of diseases such as empty nose syndrome (ENS) and atrophic rhinitis.

These diseases adversely affect quality of life of the patient at the time the only cure is the use of Alloderm to rebuild the turbinates.

A new regenerative medicine technique allows a reconstruction of the turbinates with PRP (platelet rich plasma).

The PRP contains high concentrations in the platelet growth factors, substances that stimulate the regeneration of tissues: under their effect is stimulated the growth of the mucosa.

The technique involves taking a sample of blood from the patient (usually all persons who because of hypertrophy of the turbinates were subjected to turbinectomy): then the blood collected is filtered, centrifuged up to reach the proper concentration and then is injected in the vicinity of what remains of the turbinates.

The reconstruction of the turbinates with PRP need for a cycle of one injection every 3 month in the first year and then one injection / year (every injection costs 600 Euros).

All the PRP treatment of empty nose syndrome injections do not require hospitalization.

PRP treatment of empty nose syndrome

The empty nose syndrome is a disease that lowers considerably the quality of life as it creates different respiratory problems (the most pronounced and dry nose) and can lead people to depression.

The disorder is caused in many cases by a nasal surgery aggressive (a typical example is the turbinectomy exaggerated) and today is treated with materials such as reconstruction of the Alloderm: However, the treatment with PRP of the empty nose syndrome can determine an improvement in patients of their situation naturally.

The platelets rich plasma in fact derived from the blood directly to the patient and its administration does not require any surgical operation.
